Every month we host an online talk featuring a different member of our community. The teachings cover a range of topics, so check here to see our latest offerings!
In this talk, Brent Lawson explores how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychedelic experiences, and Buddhist wisdom all point toward a similar insight: that healing often comes not from controlling or avoiding our thoughts and feelings, but from changing our relationship with them.
Participants will learn how ACT encourages acceptance of difficult inner experiences while committing to actions aligned with personal values. Brent will also discuss how psychedelic states can temporarily loosen rigid patterns of thinking, creating opportunities to practice openness, presence, and psychological flexibility. Drawing parallels with Buddhist teachings on mindfulness and non-attachment, the talk highlights practical ways these perspectives can support emotional resilience and personal growth.
This session offers a clear introduction to how these three traditions intersect and how their shared principles can be applied in everyday life.
Brent Lawson has formal training in this evidence-based therapeutic modality from PESI, a leading continuing education provider for mental health professionals, and is pursuing certification as a psychedelic guide and integration coach.
